If you don't want to take my advise, check out what
Vince Carter has to say in an interview with Stack TV.
Vince Carter talks decision-making
"My words of advise are just to stay
on the straight path. It's so easy to go left. When I
say 'go left,' I mean to go off and do the unpopular thing.
Sometimes, to move forward, you have to do the unpopular thing.
And I think that's hard for the kids to understand, because you
always want to be accepted by your peers and classmates. But
sometimes, when you have an ultimate goal, which is to become a
professional in whatever sport, you have to make the unpopular
decision. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Learning how to workout and how to prepare, but how to prepare the
correct way. For basketball players, don't just come to the
gym and say, 'Hey, I can shoot three-pointers from 30 feet, or I can
do a 360-windmill dunk.' What about: Can you make a left-handed
lay-up? A left-handed pass? Fine-tune your skills,
because that's what's missing in the game today."
