Warm Up

We all know that Basketball players love electronic accessories such as:

IPODS
MP3 Players
DVDS
Playstation 3
PSP
XBox 360
Nintendo Wii

There are  some great buy's out there that you can purchase in mini versions that will fit in your gym bag.  This can be a great relaxation tool to utilize so you can mentally prepare for a game, scrimmage, tryout or workout.  It's also a great tool to help you stay focused while waiting for the next game, during tournaments.  Sometimes sitting in the gym for long periods causes players to get restless and lose focus and we can't have that, can we?

Now that we've covered electronic devices let's move on to some helpful warm up routines that can be done during practice or prior to 'GAME TIME'

Let's start with the basics then we'll move on to the routines.

Basics

Now I know some of you will say' duh" simple, we know that.  But guess what?  I've been coaching basketball for 4 years and played ball since 4th grade.  I lettered Varsity as a freshman and went to college to play ball.  So, hear me when I say, the SIMPLE things are the thing's that players tend to FORGET.  Basic Rule #1 is

 STRETCH before you start.
Let me say it again for those of you who did not catch on the first time.
Basic Rule #1 is - STRETCH before you start.

This is not optional, its required for the ball player who wants to hang around for awhile. Stretching your muscles helps prevent injuries and no one wants an injury to prevent them for playing the game they love.  Right? Right.
